How to put on wrist wraps correctly?
Step by step
- Place the loop over your thumb so that the hook-and-loop fastening faces outward.
- Start wrapping directly around the wrist joint.
- Wrap with tension so that each turn slightly overlaps the previous one.
- Make sure the wrap covers the wrist joint itself rather than only the forearm above it.
- Secure the end with the hook-and-loop fastening.
- If preferred, remove your thumb from the loop after securing the wrap so that it does not interfere with your grip.
Common mistakes
- The wrap is positioned too high and does not support the wrist joint.
- The wrap is kept too tight for too long. If you notice numbness or tingling, loosen it.
- The wraps are kept on throughout the entire workout, including light sets.
When to loosen the wrap
Between heavy sets, the wrap can be loosened to let the hand rest. During warm-ups and lighter sets, it can be useful to train without wraps so the wrists continue working naturally.
