How do I choose the correct ankle support size?
If the size is based on circumference
- Sit down and place your foot on the floor with the leg relaxed.
- Wrap a measuring tape around the point shown in the size chart. This is often the ankle circumference just above the ankle bones or a measurement around the heel and instep.
- The tape should sit closely against the skin without compressing it.
- Record the result in centimetres and find the corresponding size in the chart.
If the size is based on shoe size
Choose the support size according to your usual shoe size. If your shoe size varies between different footwear, use the size of the shoes you plan to wear with the support.
If you are between sizes
Follow the manufacturer recommendation. If you want a tighter level of support, the smaller size may be suitable. For walking and longer wear, the larger size is usually more comfortable.
How to tell if the size is correct
- The support fits closely around the ankle and does not shift while walking.
- The foot can move freely up and down.
- Your footwear can be put on and fastened without excessive pressure.
- There is no numbness, tingling or deep marking on the skin after removal.
