Are “sugar-free” and “no added sugar” the same?

No. A product with no added sugar can contain sugars naturally present in its ingredients, so check the “of which sugars” line.

Compare ingredients and nutrition rather than the front label alone. Fruit, milk ingredients and other components can affect the final sugar content.

Check sweeteners and serving size too. Neither statement by itself means carbohydrate-free or calorie-free.
