Inulin is an indigestible fiber (fructooligosaccharides) extracted from chicory root. Inulin is not absorbed by the human body, but in the intestines it is metabolized by beneficial probiotic bacteria. Thus, inulin selectively stimulates the activity of beneficial bacteria and maintains the balance of the natural intestinal microflora. This is the main beneficial property of inulin for the functioning of the gastrointestinal tract and the general health of the body. Inulin fibers also improve intestinal motility.

An additional effect is that inulin fibers swell in the intestines, causing a feeling of satiety due to the volume. This effect is especially pronounced when taking large doses of inulin - 30-45 g of inulin per day.
